1. We are committed to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ in 21st century London
We will develop and offer a Christian basics course such as ‘Alpha’ from early 2010.
2. We are committed to equipping the servants of Jesus Christ
We will:
a. Establish a lay-led Bible study group following the conclusion of the Faith in Willesden course.
b. Continue to develop creativity, vitality and openness to God in our worship.
c. We will take action to ensure that leadership in St Matthew’s
reflects the range of church membership both in diversity of ethnic
background and in age.
3. We are committed to telling the story of Jesus Christ afresh for this generation and especially for the young
We will:
a. Develop our youth group, Vibe, and consider the viability of meeting fortnightly.
b. Continue to support and develop the mission potential of Outline Theatre in accordance with its own business plan.
c. Develop plans to employ a church/school worker with a particular
focus on helping children in St Matthew’s School with transition
to Secondary School. We will do so with assistance from the Diocesan
Children’s Society project team.
d. Develop and implement a new policy relating to baptism and give
consideration to admitting children to communion and a revised approach
to confirmation of young people.
4. We are committed to serving London and all her people
We will:
a. Explore ways of developing community uses for our buildings,
particularly in partnership with St Matthew’s School and
Hillingdon Community Trust.
b. Develop plans to fund and build a kitchen on to the Parish Centre,
particularly with a view to increased community use of our buildings.
c. Establish a Church-School Liaison Group with St Matthew’s School.
5. We are committed to sharing God’s love in our world city
We will:
a. Develop an ALMA link with St Stephen’s Matola.
b. Explore specific initiatives to help homeless people in our community.
c. Review our charitable giving as a parish.
d. Work through the consequences of our eco-audit to reduce our carbon
footprint and play a full part in the debate on ecological issues.
e. Develop our ministry to the housebound and elderly and build a team of pastoral visitors.
f. Improve the way we welcome and integrate newcomers into the life of our church.
g. Strive to achieve Fair Trade status as a parish.
h. Establish an e-parish with an international membership.
