It’s easy for a church to become self-absorbed, simply navel-gazing into its own internal affairs. The Mission & Outreach Committee exists to make sure that doesn’t happen here – our job is to keep us reaching out into the local community and the wider world.

Noticeboards and Coffee Rotas
New Noticeboard November 2004 We look at boring things like noticeboards and coffee rotas – have you noticed the new noticeboards yet? Have you signed up for the coffee rota? Special thanks are due to Maureen Bristow who keeps the tea and coffee going even when no one else has signed up.

Coffee RotaThe coffee rota comes under our umbrella because offering the opportunity to stay for tea or coffee is a great way to welcome visitors – to reach out to outsiders and help them become part of the family. If you’re not in the habit of sticking around afterwards, try it sometime – and invite a neighbour!

But we don’t stop there: we’re also responsible for the magazine and this website – which brings us into the wider world: that’s what the www in a web address stand for: world wide web.

ALMA Map ALMA and Fair Trade
So we try to make sure that we remember the wider world, especially drawing attention to ALMA, the Angola London Mozambique Association, in services, in the magazine and online, and to issues of Fair Trade by providing a Fair Trade stall in church each month. Don’t forget, fair trade isn’t just for Sundays once a month – that would defeat the object of it: it’s for every day, and the sooner we can make our own Fair Trade stall redundant because we’re all buying fair trade anyway, the better!

Come and Join Us!
There’s much more that could be written but even much more that could be done if we had more people involved – keep an eye on the diary page for the date of the next meeting — then book it in your diary and come and join us!
