Book | What's On St Matthew's, Yiewsley Who's who on the PCC at St Matthews |
|
Thank you too to everyone who committed at our recent Annual Meeting committed to serve on the PCC for another year. A particular welcome to Pam Burgess who has joined the PCC for the first time. And thank you to Peggy Hayward and Ray Brown who stood down at the APCM. We are very grateful indeed for all that you have done on the PCC during your terms of office.
This year’s PCC members are:
Vicar: Richard Young,
Curate: Julia Sheffield,
Churchwardens: Tim Beale and Ian Carter,
Deanery Synod Reps: Monica Johns and Robert Jones,
PCC Secretary: Deborah King
Other elected members: Tracey Beale, Pam Burgess, Nicola Cole, Sheila
Congram (Treasurer), Adam Innis, Bruce Innis (Assistant Churchwarden),
Carol Pinnell (Assistant Churchwarden), Kay Robinson (Assistant
Churchwarden), Linda Ryan and Linda Southby.
The PCC are elected to represent the views of everyone at St Matthew’s, so if you have anything you want to raise, please make sure you speak to one of the PCC members. And please commit to praying regularly for our new PCC, particularly as we will be considering our church’s Mission Action Plan in the coming months.
My name is Pam Burgess and I have just been nominated onto the PCC. I am looking forward to learning a lot more of what goes on ‘behind the scenes’ in the church, which I would probably not normally know about. You might know that I am the person who produces the Herald each week and have been part of congregation at St Matthews for the past 5/6 years. I have been married to Barry for almost 30 years and we have one son, Liam who is 14.
Earlier this year I was asked to become a School Governor by Richard, but as I now work part-time as a class-room assistant in St Matthews School I am apparently not eligible and I must say I was a little disappointed, so perhaps being on the PCC will compensate for this.
I am rather surprised with myself as I am really quite a shy
and private person.
I worked full time since leaving school working up from a lowly
shorthand typist to being a branch manager (fancy that, 39 years at the
same firm – how boring you might say, but it was far from
that!). In 2004 I took early retirement/redundancy. I really enjoyed
being at home at first but in the end just got very bored so took up
the offer to help out in the school for 6 weeks whilst they were short
of staff before Christmas 2007 and now work 2 days a week in the
Reception class (the little ones) and thoroughly enjoy myself.
I hope that I will become a useful & successful member
of the PCC in the future.
Pam Burgess.
