St Matthew's
is the Church of England Parish Church for all who live in Yiewsley and
for a part of West Drayton. We've been on this site for nearly one
hundred and fifty years. St Matthew's was founded as a mission church
by the congregation of St John the Baptist, Hillingdon, in 1859.
Our parish mission
statement is summed up in the phrase Serving God,
Supporting the Community and we aim to be a welcoming and
serving Christian community for Yiewsley and for all who share in our
activities, make use of our premises or visit this site.
This page provides a basic introduction to who we are
and what we're doing: to discover more, please explore the rest of the
site or, best of all, come along and join us! If you live too far away
to join us in person, you can join our "virtual congregation" instead
via our online Visitors' Book
— which is also your chance to say what you'd like to see on
this site: more of this, less of that, some of the other; but we won't
know if you don't tell us!

Parochial Church Council
We have elections each year at our Annual Parochial Church Meeting for
the Parochial Church Council (PCC).
The PCC meets about once every two months throughout the
year to discuss the issues and concerns facing St Matthew's and to make
the decisions with the Vicar concerning the life of our church.
PCC Officers
Chair: Revd Richard Young
Secretary: Position Vacant
Treasurer: Mrs Sheila Congram
Churchwardens: Mr Ian Carter and Mr Tim Beale
PCC Committees
The PCC has five committees:
• Fabric and
Finance
• Children and Youth
•Mission
and Outreach • Social
• Worship
Any member of the congregation is welcome to join one of
these committees. Their task is to help move the work of the Church
forward in this parish.
Planned Giving
Part of our Christian discipleship is about sharing the good gifts
which God has given us – and this includes our financial
giving to the Church. Our main source of income at St
Matthew’s is through the collection plate. Below are some
options you may like to consider in making your decision about your own
level of giving.
Envelope Scheme
You can commit to giving a set amount each week in a small envelope in
the collection plate.
Standing Order
You may like to set up a standing order with your bank to give to the
church on a monthly basis.
Gift Aid
If you declare the amount you are giving to the Inland Revenue
(provided you pay income tax), the church can reclaim nearly one third
of the amount you give back from the Government. Charitable giving is
tax free.
For further information please contact either
(Parish Treasurer) or
(Stewardship Secretary)
