Yiewsley may well be part of the Greater London urban sprawl, but it's not all concrete and tarmac... not yet anyway, as long as we can keep Heathrow's expansion plans at bay. And there's plenty of wildlife for those who keep their eyes open.

Along the Canal... Along the Grand Union is probably one of the best places for spotting wildlife. This swan and cygnet were photographed in December 2005, where the canal runs past West Drayton Station:
In a Garden... Local gardens are another haven for wildlife. According to the BBC, there are anything up to 10,000 parakeets living in the London area. This one flew to Yiewsley to sample the local apples:
